Fieldpiece SMG5 Insulation Resistance Tester

SMG5 is a digital insulation resistance tester designed for diagnosing compressors, motors, and transformers in HVAC/R installations. The instrument applies a 1000 V DC test voltage and measures insulation resistance up to 2000 megohms.

What it's used for

• Checking insulation resistance of HVAC/R compressors
• Measuring winding-to-ground insulation on motors, compressors, and transformers
• Diagnosing insulation problems caused by moisture or contamination
• Service checks where a low-voltage meter is not sufficient to properly assess insulation
