Electronic detector — fast locating
A sensitive electronic detector finds even small losses (a few grams per year) and suits a quick sweep of joints. Adjust sensitivity so it does not react to background, and move the probe slowly along seams.
UV dye — long-term leaks
Fluorescent dye added to the system reveals slow leaks under a UV lamp after a few days of running. Great for leaks that only show under working pressure.
Nitrogen test — before charging
A pressure test with oxygen-free nitrogen (OFN) safely checks a new system without refrigerant. Combine it with bubble solution or a detector at the joints to locate the escape.
Order of work
Start with a visual check and the flare joints, then the detector, and finally UV for stubborn cases. Method shortens diagnosis more than the tool alone.
